I’d like to talk about a question that most of my clients ask me of; and that is the bifurcation of status. As you may be aware, once the petition for dissolution of a marriage is filed, 6 months must pass before a couple turn into a single status. The petition date starts from the date that the petition is served to the other party. Nevertheless, divorce matter may last much longer than the 6 months. I’ve had cases that lasted even more than 2 years. But most of the clients that I’ve had would like a speedy divorce process that allows them to remarry or become free from their previous marriage.
